Groundswell operates on stolen and occupied territories of xʷmə kwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and explicitly follows their leadership towards decolonization and Indigenous sovereignty. The program emphasizes challenging narratives rooted in colonialism, capitalism, and supremacism. Janet Routledge, MLA for Burnaby North, has spoken about Groundswell at the BC Legislature.
